Russia Retaliates With Record-Level Strikes on Ukraine

Russia launched one of its largest air strikes on Kyiv in over three years of war on Tuesday, according to reports by Ukrainian officials.

Russia launched 315 drones in the bombardment, killing one person and injuring at least four more. Seven of the capital’s 10 districts were hit, local officials said.

Intensity: Attacks on Ukraine’s population centers are intensifying. Russia has launched 1,451 drones and 78 missiles against Ukraine this week, according to Ukrainian Air Force data.

  • Russia hit Ukraine with its largest drone attack since the start of the war from Sunday night into Monday, the Ukrainian Air Force reported. Ukrainian forces downed most of the 479 drones and 20 missiles.
  • Russian missiles hit a maternity ward in the southern city of Odesa on Tuesday, killing two more people.
  • The same day, Russian bombs hit Saint Sophia Cathedral, a unesco world heritage site that Ukrainian Culture Minister Mykola Tochytskyi called “the very heart of our identity.”

Russia has amassed some 50,000 troops near Sumy to prepare for a major push. It is also dropping up to 25 guided bombs each day on Kostiantynivka, a logistics hub for Ukrainian troops in Donbas.

Retaliation: Russia says these strikes are retaliation for Ukraine’s June 1 attack on essential air bases in the heart of Russian territory.

Russian revival: The Bible prophesies that a Russian strongman will conquer neighboring nations and restore Russia’s superpower status, so we can expect President Vladimir Putin’s violence to intensify.
